Reggae/Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has won Artiste of the Year at the 2023 Taabea Ghana Music Awards United Kingdom (GMAUK), which took place at the Royal Regency in London on Saturday, October 7, 2023.
He beat off competition from Black Sherif, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, King Promise, and Piesie Esther to win the coveted Artiste of the Year Award.
Aside from the ultimate award, Shatta Wale bagged home four other prestigious awards, including Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year with his smash hit “On God,” and Most Dominant Fanbase of the Year.
Receiving the awards, Shatta Wale thanked fans and all those who supported him, noting that he owed his success to their loyalty and promising to continue delivering exceptional music that resonates.
“Thank you, Shatta Movement UK; ‘Ghana Music Awards UK’ was fun; we made history,” he said.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah, as known privately, was the headline artist for the awards, and he thrilled patrons with an unforgettable and enthralling performance on the night.
His entry to the stage was epic, as he dropped down from the roof to the platform while singing his famous hit song “Level” to keep fans on their feet and wobbling on the dance floor.
