Following a hard-fought 2-1 win against Real Tamale United on Monday, Great Olympics have moved up to second place in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) rankings (RTU).

Today, the squad with a lot of nicknames hosted the Premier League’s matchday 18 opponent in Accra.

RTU surrendered after just five minutes of the first half, after a poor start to the challenge of playing one of the league’s best teams.

Great Olympics took the lead in the fifth minute thanks to a great shot by George Asamoah, and the team proceeded to dominate for the remainder of the half.

The home team, unfortunately, failed to extend their lead in the opening 30 minutes of the second half. As a result, when Ronald Frimpong equalized from the spot to restore parity for RTU, they were almost made to pay the price.

Players utilized the final five minutes of the game to battle and were rewarded, much to the pleasure of the home team.

In extra time, Ibrahim Sulley scored to give Olympics a 2-1 victory against their matchday opponent.

Great Olympics are now second in the league rankings, 9 points behind Asante Kotoko, thanks to the three points they earned in the game.
