Celebrated Highlife Singer, Akosua Agyapong has accused the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) of hoarding the money of legendary singer Abrantie Amakye Dede, which the organization collected as royalties.

According to her, Amakye Dede revealed it to her during a phone conversation when he heard the organization had collected his royalties without doing the necessary.

Akosua Agyapong made this known when she was responding to the topic of the state of royalties in Ghana via a Zoom conversation with Max Morning Show in Accra on Wednesday.

She said Amakye Dede called her for guidelines on how he could deal with the royalty collectors for illegally sending some individuals to collect his royalties and illegally keeping his money without them giving it to him.

Akosua Agyapong further accused Diana Hopeson, a board member of GHAMRO, of being so corrupt to the extent of failing to work as a mother looking at the interests of her children.

She expressed disappointment in the veteran gospel singer for not factoring in the hard work of those legendaries making many die in extreme poverty while the organization was sitting on their huge royalties.

Akosua Agyapong said many families of legendary singers were destitute while some corrupt individuals leading GHAMRO, like the retired CEO Abraham Adjetey, spent their money.

She expressed an urgent need for musicians to work together in dealing with GHAMRO untill they began doing the right thing for musicians to benefit from their hard work.
