Carlos Tevez starts poverty-escaping scheme for his players

Carlos Tevez has started a scheme as the manager of Independiente that encourages his players to pursue education as a means of escaping poverty.

“Three of the boys we have in the squad today told me that they did not know how to add or subtract while playing in the first division. That is poverty.

“We can bring a boy food, we can help him with a lot of things, but studies… he must know how to defend himself, he must know how to read what he is signing.

“We are putting together a project with the club to give them a teacher and after training they can spend two hours studying,” he said.
