By Michael Mensah Martey

Ampem Darkoa Ladies clinched the Women’s FA Cup after defeating Police Ladies 3-1 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

In the match, Coach Joe Nana Adarkwa’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies started the second half strongly, pushing for the first goal after a balanced first half. However, it was Police Ladies who took the lead in the 62nd minute through the skillful Mary Berko.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies didn’t let the lead dampen their spirits, and Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah scored the equalizer, forcing the game into extra time.

Early in the second half of extra time, Ophelia turned provider, delivering a tempting cross into the penalty box that was met by Mary Amponsah, who headed the ball into the net, giving Ampem Darkoa Ladies their first lead of the game.

Mary Amponsah wasn’t done yet and swiftly netted a second goal within a minute, securing the victory for Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies will be participating in the WAFU clubs qualification championship for the CAF Women’s Champions League. It’s a well-deserved opportunity for them to showcase their skills at a regional level and aim for further success in the continental competition after their disappointing performance in the season before.
