Comic actor and skit maker, Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi, popularly known as Dr. Likee, has declared his intention to retire from acting.
His decision follows false accusations and negative remarks directed at him.
Dr. Likee announced this in a viral video circulating on social media, in which he expressed how some ingrates, mostly up-and-coming actors and content creators who he helped succeed on YouTube, turned to badmouth him.
“Two weeks after I return to Ghana, I won’t do it again. I am not going to act, nor will I produce movies again,” he stated.
Dr. Likee indicated that the demanding nature of his work, noting that he often worked from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., also took a negative toll on him.
He refuted claims of favoritism, saying he had worked with a wide range of creators and has never shunned collaborators away.
“Present all the creators here and point out who I have not worked with before. When I quit, I won’t be accused or blamed for anything,” he said.
Dr. Likee has been instrumental in the recent resurgence of the Kumawood movie industry.
His popular YouTube comedy skits did not only entertain audiences but provided a platform for many emerging talents, including Kyekyeku, 39/40, C-confion, Jordan, and Sobolo, among others.
