Football Club Internazionale Milano are champions of Italy once more.
The Nerrazuri secured their 20th Scudetto following a 2-1 victory over bitter rivals AC Milan at the San Siro on Monday night.
One half of the city of Milan will party all night in celebration of Inter Milan’s triumph, after agonizingly coming so close to clinching both domestic and European trophies in the 2022–23 season.
In a highly tensed title match decider that resulted in both Rossoneri captains, Theo Hernandez and Daniele Calabria, and Inter’s Denzel Dumfries being sent off, Franco Acerbi put the league leaders ahead in the 18th minute.
France forward Marcus Thuram doubled the lead for the away side shortly after the first half break before former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori pulled one back for the hosts late in the game.
With the match already being heated as expected, it descended into complete chaos when Dumfries reacted angrily to Hernandez’s dangerous tackle, causing a brawl and forcing the referee to send both players off.
As if that were not enough, Calabria deliberately swung his arm to the face of Frattesi just before full time.
