Ian Maatsen has informed Chelsea of his intentions to stay at German outfit Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis.
The young, versatile Dutch left winger moved to Germany on loan from Chelsea in the January transfer window after enduring a bit-part role in the first half of the 2023–24 season at the London club.
Ian Maatsen, 19, scored his maiden Champions League goal in the 2nd leg of the quarterfinal against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
After helping Burnley secure a return to the English topflight in the 2022–23 Championship, he hoped to secure a regular spot under new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.
However, with his eagerness to make the Netherlands squad for the 2024 Euros, he requested to leave the club for regular playing time.
