#Paris2024: Bostwana set African record to win 4x400m silver

By Michael Mensah Martey

Bostwana finished second to win silver in the men’s 4×400 meter relay race final, with the USA winning gold and bronze going to Great Britain.

The Southern Africans improved on their performance in Tokyo, finishing with an African record of 2:54.53.

Anthony Pesela closed the gap the third lap to setup a nail-biting final lap finish for Botswana as he handed the baton to 200-meter champion Lestile Tebogo, who raced neck-to-neck against Rai Benjamin to only finish behind the American.

Fourth-place Belgium and fifth-placed South Africa set national records, and Japan in sixth set an Asian record.
