Vincent Kompany is set to secure the signature of Japanese defender Hiroki Itō from Bundesliga rival Stuttgart.
German tabloid Bild reported of the surprise move at the start of the month, as Bayern Munich were expected to trigger his release clause of €28 million.
The left-footed center-back, according to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, will sign a five year deal with the Bundesliga record winners.
With the imminent departure of Dutch defender Mathias De Light, the signing of Hiroki Itō has become a priority for Bayern, while they are keen on Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
