According to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), the Western North region of Ghana is the most expensive region for consumers, as it tracked prices for 10 food items.
The food items tracked in cedis per kilogram/liter in the second Food Price Variability report are beans, yams, bread, noodles, cooking oil, tomato paste, milk, beef, iodated salt, and imported rice.
The findings of the report suggest shopping in your vicinity leads to significant savings after it revealed the prominence of price variations within the regions.
Local foods also saw an increase in price changes in items like tomatoes, yams, and garden eggs, while processed local foods like smoked herrings, fried plantains with beans, and Ga kenkey saw a morderate rise.
