Ibrahima Breze Fofana, the Guinea U-23 midfielder, expressed his joy and excitement at reaching the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Fofana’s outstanding performance in the match against Ghana earned him the TotalEnergies Man of the Match award, as he scored the crucial goal that secured Guinea’s 1-1 draw and their place in the knockout stage.
“Facing Ghana was physically demanding. But I want to thank all my teammates for their hard work, which helped us achieve this,” said Fofana.
When asked about the coach’s halftime instructions during the match when Guinea was trailing, Fofana mentioned that Coach Cisse advised them on how to move and create more space to secure victory.
However, Fofana acknowledged that the upcoming semi-final would be even more challenging. The midfielder and the rest of the team will likely be preparing diligently to give their best performance and strive for success in the semi-finals.
