MAX MORNING DEW: I was never given credit for the song “Welcome Home” by Osibisa. – Tumi Ebow Ansa

By Michael Mensah Martey

Legendary Ghanaian musician and songwriter Tumi Ebow Ansa has disclosed that he was the original writer of the timeless hit song “Welcome Home” by the biggest band to ever come out of Ghana, Osibisa, and was never given the credit he was due.

The band heard the award-winning composer’s tune at the airport and immediately fell in love with it, suggesting they collaborate, the composer said in an exclusive interview with Max FM.

He was never given credit for writing the song by them after it was recorded, despite the fact that it became one of the most well-known songs in history.

“Welcome Home” became the seventh studio album to be released by the Ghanaian-British Afro-rock band, Osibisa, in 1975 by Island Records ILPS 9355.
