Aphrodisiacs cause erectile dysfunction

Naturopathic doctor at Vemaplus Limited, Dr. Anthony Adoasi, has cautioned men to desist from taking herbal medicines or supplements that are thought to have aphrodisiac effects in enhancing sexual performance.

According to him, those aphrodisiacs have side effects that can result in erectile dysfunction.

Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Dew in Accra on Thursday, Dr. Adoasi said many of those supplements have some chemicals that, in the long run, could affect the potency of the manhood.

He noted that spices that are processed, like Maggie and Onga, among other seasonings, could also lead to erectile dysfunction due to the preservatives used in storing the contents.

“Since they say there are tumeric, ginger, rosemarie, and other natural spices, why don’t you go to the market to buy the raw ones and use them?” he queried.

In enhancing erections and by increasing one-sex drive and pleasure during sex, Dr. Adoasi charged men to pay keen attention to what they consume, as some lifestyles could cause erectile dysfunction.

He said smoking, lack of physical activity, wrong diets, overweight or obesity, metabolic syndrome, and excessive alcohol consumption could result in erection problems and advised men to desist from such acts.

Dr. Adoasi also observed that some medicines used in treating diabetes contain chemicals that could affect erection.
