Just days after being instructed by FIFA to pay the Serbian’s debts, Accra Hearts of Oak have reported that their former coach, Slavko Matic, owes the team an undisclosed amount of money.
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, FIFA ordered Accra Hearts of Oak to pay Slavko Matic a staggering amount of $14,002 as debts the club owed him after he filed a complaint against the BetPawa Premier League side for a breach of contractual agreement.
Hearts of Oak has come out to clear the air on the Matic issue, stating that the club has settled all debts it owed the expatriate manager even before FIFA released its directive, but also adding that the manager also owes the club an undisclosed amount due to monies he took when he worked with them.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Max FM, Public Relations Officer for Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, said the club had settled all the debts it owed Slavko Matic, but what remains now is for the Serbian to repay monies he took as “loans” from the club.
“We have settled the money we owe Matic [Slavko]. Our lawyers had that covered even before we received the directive from FIFA. Now he also has to come and pay the money he took from us during his time here. We have our lawyers working on that as well”, Kwame Opare Addo told Max FM.
Hearts of Oak are preparing for the upcoming season but remains without a substantive head coach after parting ways with their acting head coach, David Ocloo, on Monday, despite several reports linking several high-profile coaches to the team.
