Burnley, managed by former Man City captain Vincent Kompany have secured an automatic promotion spot back to the Premier League after they moved 19 points clear of third-placed Luton.

Luton, who are fourth in the league table, were unable to win at Millwall and were mathematically ruled out of a top two finish.

Burnley had to seal a win over the former Manchester United’s captain Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough side to book their ticket back to the English top-flight.

Burnley have been leading the championship for the majority of the season and were expected to be one of the teams to finish in the top two at the end of the year.
