Sexuality sells but it shouldn't be trashy - S3fa

Songstress Sefadzi Abena Amesu, known by her stage name S3fa, has charged female musicians to put in much work to sell their music rather than resort to seductive looks.

According to her, having a sexually appealing look does not contribute to the marketing of music, and she cautioned musicians against it.

In a recent media interview, S3fa explained that appealing and seductive looks rather market the artist as a brand but do not add up to the selling of the music.

She noted that music could only sell when the musician was talented and advised female colleagues to package themselves well rather than looking sexually attractive without selling talent.

S3fa said music reaches a wide audience, including kids, and cautioned musicians to guide their actions.

“There are children watching us in the public space, so it’s not everything that is publicly right. Music is not just about your physical appearance; it has to do with your talent and your hard work, so you can be very sexual, but then nothing will work for you,” she added.

Though the “Shuga” hitmaker admitted that there were some body-pleasing dresses that were acceptable, some, she claimed, were overly dramatic.

“Sexuality sells, but it shouldn’t be so awful or trashy,” she added.
