Italian striker Mario Balotelli is recovering from a serious car crash in his hometown of Orzinuovi.
The 33-year-old former Manchester City star, who now plays for Turkish club Adana Demirspor, lost control of his Audi Q8 and hit a wall at around 8.30pm, according to local media.
The force of the crash was enough to wreck the £100,000 car, which was left missing a wheel and with a large hole in the undercarriage.
Balotelli was reportedly seen climbing out of the vehicle and staggering across the street.
He was pictured lying on the street while emergency services attended to him, though he got up on his feet shortly afterwards.
Sky Sports Italia reported that the footballer refused a police breathalyzer test at the scene.
This allegedly resulted in his driving license being confiscated.
Asked why he was carrying so much cash, he reportedly replied: ‘Because I am rich.’
Authorities did not immediately confirm whether Balotelli faces any legal proceedings in relation to the incident in Orzinuovi, northern Italy.
Metro.co.uk has approached a representative of the star for comment.
