Henry Asante Twum, the spokesman for the Ghana Football Association, has revealed Jonathan Sowah is on the Black Stars standby list.
Medeama star Jonathan Sowah was noticeably absent from the Black Stars’ team for their upcoming friendlies against the United States and Mexico.
Fans were confused by Sowah’s notable absence from the call-up list after his outstanding performance in the friendly match against Liberia left spectators in awe.
“In every call-up when the coach does his team in every position he places one or two players on standby. From the initial list that he submitted Jonathan was in the list but on standby,” he said in an interview.
“Normally they will wait for all the leagues to end during the weekend and when there is an injury then quickly another player will come in.
“What happened is Medeama as I speak to you they are on their way to Washington as Ghanaian champions they are going to play a game because of the challenges they had with visa acquisition the club told the FA to release Fatawu so that they will use him for their friendly game then he will return to the Black Stars group,” he concluded.
