Retired Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed his disbelief in God in an interview and questioned his existence.
The former Manchester United forward’s stance on God stems from a personal crisis when his brother, Sapko Ibrahimovic, passed away in April 2024, aged 40, after a long battle with leukemia.

Growing up in the old Yugoslavia with a Bosnian Muslim father and a Croatian Catholic mother, his childhood was marred by civil war, which led to their migration to Sweden.
Ibrahimovic, now working as an advisor to his former club, AC Milan, obviously is still grieving his late brother because the death of a loved one is nothing to easily get over and can cause one to question every single thing. .

I’m not a believer, only I can judge myself. Where was god when my brother died of leukemia? You are your god. That’s what I believe.”
