Georginio Wijnaldum pays courtesy call on National Chief Imam

By Michael Mensah Martey

Georginio Wijnaldum, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, at his residence in Fadama on Monday, July 3.

Wijnaldum, who played for AS Roma last season, is currently in Ghana for a vacation along with his Dutch teammate of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay. Depay has visited Ghana on previous occasions and has developed a connection with the country.

Before changing his surname to Wijnaldum, the Netherlands international was known as Georginio Boateng. He made this change after his stepfather, who is Ghanaian, divorced his mother.

During his stay in Ghana, Wijnaldum was seen in a gym with Memphis Depay in Accra and also visited the Black Stars Square.
