Former South African international player Papi Khomane and his mother died in a horrific accident on Saturday.

The South African football community is deeply saddened by the unfortunate tragedy, as Orlando Pirates announced the passing of their former captain.

Khomane joined the Buccaneers in 1998 from Jomo Cosmos, and he played in 150 games for the team.

The former defender died in a sad accident while traveling to a funeral with his mother, Rita Khomane.

Pirates described 48-year-old Khomane as a man with few words in a club statement.
