In a close Group B opener in Melbourne, Nigeria and Canada shared the spoils, with both captains playing a key role in the game’s decisive play.
Canada earned a penalty immediately after the interval after a scoreless first half. Their captain, Christine Sinclair, took the shot but was stopped by the Super Falcons’ Chiamaka Nnadozie with a brilliant stop low to her left.
22-year-old Nnadozie Chiamaka was in top form in the #FIFAWWC clash against Canada and produced a save that ultimately earned the Super Falcons a valuable point.

Both teams were looking to score, and with 30 minutes left, Nigeria’s Michelle Alozie had a shot well blocked before substitutes Evelyne Viens and Cloe Lacasse from Canada also had late attempts denied.
