FIFA president Gianni Infantino to be re-elected unopposed for third term

Gianni Infantino, the current president of Fifa, will run unopposed for re-election to a third term in office.

In February 2016, the 52-year-old Swiss-Italian took over as the head of football’s governing body when Sepp Blatter retired. He was re-elected in 2019.

According to Fifa, only Infantino has been put out as a candidate by its member organizations “after the call for election” in March 2022.

On March 16 in Kigali, Rwanda, at the 73rd Fifa Congress, he will be re-elected.

Blatter presided over Fifa for 17 years before being expelled in 2015 due to a corruption scandal.
