Belgium, Ukraine stunned as Mbappe inspires France to victory

Belgium were stunned on Monday at the Frankfurt Arena by Slovakia in the Group E opener of the 2024 Euros.

Romelu had missed a couple of chances in the early minutes of the game before having an equalizer disallowed after a review by the video assistant referee (VAR) after Ivan Schranz had given the Slovaks the lead in the seventh minute.

Slovakia held on to secure a stunning victory over one of the tournament’s favorites.

While at the Fußball Arena München, Romania secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Ukraine. Their first victory at a European Championship in 24 years.

Nicolae Stanciu, Razvan Marin, and Denis Dragus’ goals ensured the Tricolours would enjoy an opening win in Group E.

In Düsseldorf, a Kylian Mbappe-inspired moment led to Max Wober’s own goal, giving France an opening win against Austria in Group D.

The newest Real Madrid star sustained a scary-looking injury after an aerial clash with Austrian and RC Lens defender Kevin Danso.
