Media personality Blakk Rasta has condemned the act of Ghanaians depriving themselves of sleep just to break marathons of a sort of Guinness World Record (GWR).
According to him, it is suicidal to deprive oneself of enough rest, as established by science.
He raised concerns regarding Chef Failatu Abdul Razak’s ongoing attempt at breaking the GWR for the longest cooking marathon after raising the same concerns on Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum’s Sing-a-thon.
Blakk Rasta expressed worries about the potential health risks associated with Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon and strongly opposed the idea of individuals depriving themselves of sufficient sleep for an extended period, describing it as a ‘suicide mission.’
“And for me, losing sleep for more than three days is a suicide mission. I will not support that. I don’t know about you. You call it pushing the limit, but I call it a suicide mission. We pray that they do not lose their lives and that they learn a lesson that will help the whole nation,” he said.
Black Rasta warned Ghanaians against the increasing trend of various marathons in the nation, ranging from sex-a-thons to stand-a-thons to speech-a-thons and kiss-a-thons.
He frowned on Ghanaians endorsing such endeavors due to the potential long-term impact on the health of those engaging in the act.
