CONCACAF 23: USMNT beat Canada to retain trophy

By Michael Mensah Martey
The United States successfully defended their Concacaf Nations League title with a 2-0 victory over Canada.

The match saw the USMNT take an early lead in the 12th minute when Chris Richards headed in a corner delivered by Giovanni Reyna.

Later in the first half, Folarin Balogun extended the USMNT’s advantage to 2-0 with a well-placed finish from Reyna’s through ball, beating Canada’s goalkeeper Milan Borjan.

Despite creating some promising opportunities for star player Alphonso Davies, the Canadian team couldn’t find a breakthrough to reduce the deficit.

In the closing stages of the match, the United States opted for a five-man backline to secure their lead and managed to hold on and clinch the Concacaf Nations League trophy once again.
