Medeama SC’s star striker Jonathan Sowah has earned his first call-up to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers match against the Central African Republic (CAR) on Thursday, September 7.
Coach Chris Hughton named Sowah in his 25-man squad following his outstanding performances with Medeama last season and the ongoing CAF Champions preliminary stages.
Sowah is set to battle for starting position against the likes of Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Ernest Nuamah, Osman Bukari, and Joseph Painstil as the Black Stars will have to win at all cost to qualify for the AFCON.
