Amir Abdou, the head coach of Mauritania, has stated that he is willing to take over as head coach of the Ghanaian Black Stars should the Ghana Football Association get in touch with him.
Abdou, the coach of Mauritania, who masterminded a surprise victory over Algeria in the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, eliminating one of the continent’s dominating sides, disclosed how fortunate he would be to coach Ghana in a private chat verified by seasoned journalist Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.
“Who wouldn’t want to coach Ghana?” he replied to max.com.gh’s Ampofo Ankrah when asked if he would be interested in the current vacant head coach position of the Black Stars of Ghana.
The French-born gaffer led Comoros to condemn Ghana to a group stage exit in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations thanks to a commanding 3-2 victory in Cameroon.
Apart from Abdou, there have been reports of serious interest in the Black Stars head coach position from German tactician Jurgen Kohler, former Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu, and former coach of The Gambia, Tom Saintfiet.
