Ghana Premier League champions FC Samartex 1996 have won the Nsenkyire Cup after a final-day victory over Legon Cities FC.
The Nsenkyire Cup, held at the end of the season to honor Samartex FC’s owner Mr. Richard Nsenkyire, featured top Ghanaian clubs including FC Samartex, Nations FC, Nsoatreman FC, and Legon Cities.
Samartex started strong with a 4-0 win against Nsoatreman FC, followed by a 2-2 draw with Nations FC. They advanced through a penalty shootout and clinched the cup with a 1-0 victory over Legon Cities on Sunday, thanks to Baba Musah Hamadu’s decisive goal.
Hamadu was named Best Player of the tournament. This triumph is expected to boost FC Samartex’s morale as they prepare for their CAF Champions League preliminary round match against Cameroonian champions Victoria United.
