On Wednesday, Lionel Messi made history by becoming the first player from the MLS to be named to the Ballon d’Or shortlist since David Beckham in 2007.
The Argentine star was included as one of the 2023 award nominees, and is a favorite, according many football fans to win the award.
Should he win the award on October 30, he will make history by becoming the first player from the MLS to win the Ballon d’Or.
