The Super Eagles vice captain, William Troost-Ekong, successfully underwent surgery in Finland on Tuesday night, according to reports coming from Nigeria.
The Nigerian sustained a hamstring injury during his country’s second group game against hosts Ivory Coast at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Troost-Ekong carried on despite the injury to lead his side to the final, where they scored but unfortunately lost to Ivory Coast.
He finished the tournament as the highest-scoring defender and also the MVP.
