The evening of the 12th of March was all fireworks as Heavy Dee hosted legendary Ghanaian Reggae icon, Blakk Rasta on Max 89.7FM’s Reggae Kafe where he made this revelation on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
The legendary guest gave viewers a lot of thrills and insight about matters in nation-building, economic growth, politics, the place of the youth in governance, etc., and even schooled its excited audience in other diverse topics such as music and entertainment.

It’s in this light that the traveled artiste made quite a shocking discovery that Jamaican Reggae artistes to a large extent feel the Ghanaian counterparts spearheaded by the sensational duo of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy have over-copied their style and genre of music, Reggae, citing the Legendary Luciano amongst others to have been a prominent figure leading the chant as he discovered in his meetings with them.
The end of it is the disruption of the music business for the Jamaican locals who would usually get invitations to Ghana and other African regions for performances and more. This adversely affects the growth of the genre beyond the Ghanaian scene for Ghanaians pursuing this genre as Jamaicans won’t open their doors to them easily to further break grounds, The Reggae icon who one time performed for the former president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama revealed on the show.

He also stated his disgust for the likes of Shatta Wale who won’t invest in the quality of his craft and sound in order to break into the global scene as a recognized figure in the genre here in Ghana and complimented Stonebwoy mildly for some good work being done. He also encouraged the Ghanaian musical artistes to build around the sounds they are identified by for easy identification and recognition on the global scene.
The Reggae Kafe hosted by Heavy Dee comes off every Saturday between the hours of 8:30 pm and 10 pm on your favorite radio frequency; Max 89.7FM. Make sure to tune in for great music and rare insights!
