The United States Basketball Team took no prisoners on Wednesday night as they went tough on South Sudan, beating them 103-86.
Following the scare against the African side in a preparation match ahead of the games when the Americans, by the skin of their teeth, won through Lebron James’s final basket, Wednesday’s game set out to be one to watch in the events of the day.
Steve Kerr’s men secured their quarterfinals spot courtesy of the win as Bam Adebayo and Kevin Durant dominated the game, scoring 18 and 14 points respectively.
Anthony Edwards scored 13 and LeBron James added 12 for the U.S. Nuni Omot led South Sudan with 21 points, while Carlik Jones scored 18 and Bul Kuol added 16.
The Americans will face already-eliminated Puerto Rico next on Saturday, August 3.
