Australia and Chelsea women’s striker Sam Kerr has been ruled out of this year’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Kerr, 30, is currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear she sustained in her club’s training camp in Morocco in January 2024.
Head coach of the Matildas, the senior women’s team of Australia, Tony Gustavsson, said the much-feared striker will not be able to recover in time for the games.
Australia are place in Group B alongside Germany, Zambia, and the United States of America.
The Matildas will kick off their campaign against Germany on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
