The General Manager of Nsoatreman Football Club, Eric Alagidede, has disclosed that no official member of the Bofoakwa Tano has gotten in touch following the unprovoked attack by its fans on the playing and coaching staff of his club.
Another sad moment occurred in the BetPawa Premier League after a hard-fought goalless tie at Sunyani Coronation Park between Bofoakwa Tano and Nsoatreman FC. Fans of the home side attacked the center referee, head coach of Nsoamtreman, and his players.
“No official of Bofoakwa Tano has reached out except for Alexander Ababio, who isn’t part of the team but close to them, but because I had a short time to see Maxwell Konadu, I told him I’d call back when I was done. None of my calls to him were answered,” said Mr. Alagidede in an interview on Max FM.
On the health of the head coach, Nsoatreman FC, Mr. Alagidede said, “The coach has regained consciousness and even inquired from him how he was doing. Compared to yesterday [Sunday], he’s doing much better today.”
When asked what led to the attack, he said, “Bofo calls for a penalty resulted in fans attacking after the game. Their fans attacked the referee first before some of our players and coach [Maxwell Konadu] got attacked.”
The general manager also revealed the incident has traumatized the team, as he said, “The whole thing plays on my mind as if it happened today.”
The Ghana Football Association has swiftly placed a temporary ban on Bofokwa Tano from playing at the Sunyani Coronation Park in subsequent games.
