A Certified Emotional Quotient (EQ) Coach who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Addison International, James Kwesi Addison, has proposed for tithes paid in churches to be invested in an insurance company for contributors.
According to him, that will help congregations benefit from their contributions at the age of 60.
Speaking in an interview with Max Morning Agenda in Accra on Tuesday, the author indicated that many church members at the age of 60 turn to suffer after all the offerings and contributions in churches.
He said the real reason for tithe paying had been defeated, and there was a need for the current churches, in which the pastors have extra income, to rather think about the welfare of members.
“In those years, Methodist pastor will travel from America to the country or a remote village for a period of time to teach people about the word, so if the offering or tithe is giving to him, the tithe is used judiciously, but today the pastors are not doing likewise, so the tithe is not being used for its intended purpose,” Addison noted.
He observed that the Bible was great literature, and when Ghanaians reviewed it to suit “our economic” situation, it would strengthen “us” and “ease our suffering.”
Citing what Jesus told his disciples, Addison said Jesus indicated that “you did not assist me when I was in need,” which he said was an indication that God wanted mankind to assist each other.
“Because no one had seen God for the people to believe that God is sitting in churches on Sundays so we will go and offer everything we have to him there while we did not show kindness to our fellow who is in need,” he stressed.
Addison expressed an urgent need for the country to even customize religion to suit the economic situation, just like the celebration of Valentine was amended to project chocolate in Ghana.
He had no doubts that the church would soon pay taxes due to how it was running late.
