Kumawood actress Vivian Jill Lawrence has called on Ghanaians to treat reports claiming she has gotten married with contempt as it deserved.
She debunked the claims that she recently got married to a colleague in a traditional wedding ceremony, which was reported to have taken place last weekend.
Rumors of the alleged wedding began circulating after photos and videos from the event went viral on social media.
The images showed both Vivian Jill and her alleged husband clad in Kente clothes, seated in a manner typical of a couple, leading many Ghanaians to share their joy and offer their congratulatory messages.
Seeing such reports, the actress clarified in a video shared on her Instagram page that those images were not from a real wedding but from a skit she was shooting and uploading on YouTube.
She said the YouTube series was titled “Yaa Basabasa” and thought people would have known that it was a movie, and she apologized to fans for the misinformation spread out by bloggers who failed to do prior investigation before spreading such rumors.
“For days now, some videos and pictures have gone viral saying I was married. Sorry, I didn’t come out to address it on time. I thought everyone would notice it’s a movie. Please, I’m not married. It is my new series on YouTube titled *Yaa Basabasa. Please, if this issue of marriage affects anyone in any way, I’m sorry. I don’t want anyone to feel like I’m playing with your heart or your mind; please forgive me. Find a place in your heart to forgive me,” Vivian Jill clarified.
