Veteran actress Grace Omaboe, known popularly as Maame Dokono, has disclosed that she is one of the prominent individuals who groomed dancehall musician Shatta Wale.
According to her, she groomed him as a gong-gong beater in her renowned kiddie-drama show “By the Fire Side.”
Speaking in a media interview, the screen goddess said she used her program on television to nurture many talents, of which Shatta Wale happened to be one.
She said Shatta Wale was under her guidance, along with others who were now professionals in the banking and medicine sectors.
“My motivation was to alleviate suffering and unearth the talents of children while grooming them to embrace their future prospects,” she explained.
Maame Dokono further stated that she nurtured Shatta Wale’s talent by giving him a suitable role on “By the Fire Side” as a gong-gong beater to spark his rhythmic ability, propelling him to become a musician.
“Shatta Wale started as a gong-gong beater on By the Fireside; he’s just one of the many individuals I have assisted,” she added.
