The captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, has cautioned against underrating the team in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Andre Ayew reckons his team can invoke the spirits of the underrated teams in past editions that, against all odds, won the coveted African trophy.
The son of African football icon Abedi Pele, ahead of Ghana’s opening encounter against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde, spoke to the press.
“We have seen teams who were not expected to win the AFCON, and they won it,” he said.
“We have seen teams expected to win it. AFCON is unpredictable, and that is an open door we need to slide into.
“We will give our best,” he added.
