The legendary Egyptian attacking midfielder and striker won the Ghana 2008 and Angola 2010 AFCON tournaments with the Pharaohs of Egypt.
Aboutrika was a versatile player who could play as a marauding attacking midfielder or a direct striker for both club and country.
Aboutrika made his debut for Egypt on March 19, 2001, in an international friendly against Estonia before going on to earn a total of 100 caps for the Pharaohs, the last of which came in November 2013.
He played in the 2006, 2008, and 2010 AFCON editions while helping Egypt win the title in the 2008 and 2010 tournaments, scoring 2 and 4 goals, respectively, in the two tournaments.
The Al Ahly legend netted the only goal in the 2008 African Cup of Nations final when Egypt defeated Cameroon to win their record-sixth AFCON title.
Aboutrika is regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play in the AFCON. He scored 30 goals in 100 games for the Egyptian national team.
