Chris Hughton, the coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, was allegedly attacked by a Ghanaian fan after his team’s loss to Cape Verde in Sunday night’s Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations opener.
The Ghanaian attacker, according to reports, was visibly disgusted with Ghana’s performance and attempted to beat up the coach at the team’s hotel.
The attacker, yet to be identified, was quickly spotted by people around who reacted swiftly to avert the attack and was taken into Ivorian Police custody.
Chris Hughton, during his post-match presser, apologized and took responsibility for Ghana’s loss, but will be targeting a win over the Pharaohs in Egypt when they clash on Thursday, January 18, 2023.
