Patrick Papala, a Ghanaian assistant referee, lost his FIFA badge just one week after receiving a one-year suspension.
The referee was last week given a one-year suspension by the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s match review panel for denying Accra Hearts of Oak a legitimate goal against Real Tamale United on matchday 33 of the 2022–23 campaign at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The decision of Assistant Referee-1 (Patrick Papala) of the aforementioned game to deny Hearts the equalizer from Yaw Amankwah Baafi in the 90th minutes was categorically incorrect, according to the GFA’s match review panel’s ruling.
His argument that the goal scorer was offside was refuted by video proof proving the player was onside.
Even before he filed a rebuttal to his suspension, the Ghana FA had already revoked his 2019 FIFA badge.
