By raising the prize money for the winners, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken action to increase the excitement and competition in the 2018 Premier League season.
On Tuesday, the 2023–24 season was launched at the Koforidua Premier Hotel in Koforidua where the new reward system was introduced.
The 2022/23 season winners, Medeama, received a prize of GHS 300,000 ($26,320). However, indicating a large percentage increase, the upcoming league champions will now get GHS 500,000 ($43,868).
The GFA has expanded its recognition to the clubs that accomplish various positions in the league standings in addition to increasing the awards for league champions.
“To increase the competitiveness of the league, the Ghana Football Association will reward from the first to the 10th place in the 2023/24 betPawa Premier League,” the GFA President, Kurt Okraku, said at the launch.
The 2023/24 season is scheduled to kick-off on September 15, 2023.
