LIGUE 1 2023/24: Balogun misses two penalties in Monaco’s defeat to Nice

By Michael Mensah Martey

Folarin Balogun struggled in his first game for Monaco, missing two penalty kicks in a 1-0 loss to Nice.

Since joining from Arsenal last month, the striker made his debut in the starting lineup.

The 22-year-old, however, had a night to forget on this particular occasion as Nice’s late winner by Jeremy Boga added insult to injury.

In the 12th minute, Balogun went up to attempt Monaco’s first penalty, but Marcin Bulka stopped his attempt.

Balogun once more converted Monaco’s second penalty kick, which came in the 55th minute.

But the result was the same, with Bulka once more keeping it out.

Monaco is currently in second place in Ligue 1 despite the loss, one point behind Nice.
