Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale is slated to headline at the retirement party of Togolese football icon Emmanuel Adebayor. Adebayor confirmed Shatta Wale‘s participation through a video shared on his TikTok account.

Shatta Wale, often dubbed the African dancehall king, expressed his enthusiasm for his inclusion in the grand concert. The event, named the Jubilee Concert, is scheduled to be held at Stade de Kegue in Lomé.

Alongside Shatta Wale, various other African artists are expected to grace the stage, as the concert forms part of a series of festivities arranged to honor Adebayor’s retirement. These festivities encompass a youth marathon and a special female football tournament, set to kick off on June 19.

Having officially retired from football in 2023, Adebayor announced a sports festival to commemorate his retirement in June 2024. In an Instagram post, he expressed gratitude for the support received and extended an invitation to the jubilee organized by the SEA Foundation, aiming to celebrate the conclusion of his football career.

Adebayor emphasized the festival’s focus on promoting values of peace, stability, and cohesion across Africa. The jubilee will feature various activities, culminating in a gala match that will bring together football luminaries in Lomé.

Adebayor, known for his stints at prominent clubs such as Arsenal and Real Madrid, amassed a remarkable record of 205 goals in over 500 appearances throughout his career. Additionally, he represented the Togolese national team, scoring 32 goals in 87 appearances.
