Influential dance artist, Incredible Zigi has called on organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) to dedicate a category in the awards scheme to recognize dancers in the country.
According to him, music and dance are arts that go hand in hand and express the need for dancers to also be awarded as part of the scheme to propel their jobs.
The multiple award-winning dancer and choreographer, made this appeal when he was presenting the Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste award alongside dancer Dancegod Lloyd last Saturday at the TGMA in the AICC Grand Arena.
“We’re so thankful for the industry for holding us. Tonight is not only for artistes but for dancers also. Because music and dance go hand in hand,” he said.
Incredible Zigi wished that the scheme could honor dedicated dancers so that dancers would feel encouraged and supported in their field of endeavor.
“Maybe one day we’ll get a category for dancers,” he added.
In addition, Dancegod Lloyd reiterated his sentiments, highlighting the integral role dancers play in the music industry.
He insisted that when dancers were honored, the field of art could attract many of them to hone their talents and help project the aesthetic culture of the country through music and dance.
