The Ghana Football Association, through its Disciplinary Committee, has fined Real Tamale United (RTU) GHC 100,000 for breaching Section 34(6)(d) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations in the 2023–24 season.
In a matchday 28 encounter against Dreams FC, who were looking to escape relegation, the already demoted RTU, also known as the ‘Pride of the North’ fielded unregistered players to deceive match officials at the Theatre of Dreams, where they eventually lost 8-1.
Despite apologizing to the Ghana Football Association and acknowledging its financial difficulties, RTU will have to pay a substantial sum of GHC 100,000.
Iddi Manzah Alhassan, Abdul-Samed Iddrisu, Abdul-Gafaru Salifu, Tanko Jentumah, and Sylvester Yaw Apanka, all officials of the Tamale-based club, have also been handed a one-year ban from all football-related activities.
The club is preparing for life back in the Access Bank Division One League in the 2024–25 season.
