EFL CUP 2023/24: Jordan Ayew captains Palace in loss to United

Tuesday night’s third-round match between Manchester United and Crystal Palace resulted in an excellent 3-0 victory for Manchester United, eliminating Crystal Palace from the EFL Cup.

For the first time in Crystal Palace history, Jordan Ayew started the game as the team’s captain as Roy Hodgson, the oldest manager in English top-flight football, attempted to defeat Manchester United.

Alejandro Garnacho’s goal in the 21st minute gave Manchester United the lead as the Red Devils outclassed the Eagles.

Six minutes later, Palace midfielder Casemiro doubled their advantage by scoring as well.

After coming on for Hojllund in the second half, Anthony Martial also scored, giving Manchester United a 3-0 victory.
