COMOROS 1-0 GHANA: We were the better team - Chris Hughton

Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup African qualifier in Moroni saw the Black Stars fall 1-0 to the table-topping Comoros, but head coach Chris Hughton is still positive that his team was better.

In his post-game comments, Chris Hughton acknowledged Comoros’ victory but asserted that his team was better.

“Congratulations to Comoros for the victory. In my opinion over the 90 minutes, we were the better team. I thought Ghana we were the better team. We conceded what we regarded as a poor goal to concede and we were not able to capitalise on the chances that we had.

“So this was not a game where Comoros won this game comfortably. Over the 90 minutes, we were the better team but unfortunately, we were not able to put away the chances that we created,” Coach Chris Hughton said.

Following his tactical and player selection decisions in the match, the coach has been under scrutiny. It would be interesting to see how the football authorities respond to this most recent setback, which may make it more difficult for Ghana to qualify for the next World Cup.
